Olympus 75mm lens

Olympus today announces that the firmware for the Zuiko 75mm f1:8 Prime Portrait lens has been finalised. This all metal construction lens features silky smooth manual focusing as well as virtually silent high speed autofocus. This high speed lens has low reflection and next to no Chromatic Aberrations. It features Zuiko Extra low Reflection Optical (ZERO) coating, which is twice as effective as conventional coatings and will minimise or virtually eliminate internal ghosting or flaring.

We had a brief hands-on session with this lens fitted to the new Olympus OM-D camera. It put in an impressive performance, autofocus was almost instant and colours are neutral. Shooting at the full aperture of f1.8 on the OM-D 4:3 camera produced a very shallow depth of field, so focus had to be spot on – and it was. If you are into portrait or low light sports photography then this lens may be a great choice for you.

The M Zuiko Digital ED 75mm Prime Portrait lens which can be used with the Olympus OM-D and Pen cameras will be available from July 2012 for a retail price of £799, the optional LH-61F lens hood will retail at £69.90 and the LC-61 lens cap £34.90. Start saving.
