HP Designjet 130 is now universal!firmware and driver update

Postby jo-1 » Fri Aug 11, 2006 6:33 am

the Designjet 130 series is now an universal binary version (runs on IBM and INTEL based MACs)

in detail:

Driver utility 4.0
Firmware 5.01
Driver 4.1 (47 MB!!!)

Also the ICC profiles seem to be slightly different (at least glossy and semiglossy profiles are said to be enhanced - note from the HP support side)

So finally we have an update on one of the greatest - ähm sorry - biggest printers arround (for affordable money).

As soon as PFP 2.0 is available I will give this combination a new try - maybe this combination works better!?!

Only for curiosity - the HP Desginjet support site did not list any MAC driver for almost two weeks - funny guys - a newbee that did not download and store the actual driver would have gone crazy while searching for a non existing driver on the net.

So let's see what this combination can do!?

update: The paper selector is now easier to understand (less variations and therefore better to adjust)

hi, I'm usng a designjet 130 and a Powerbook Pro Intel mac. I can't use the firmware nor the utlity that comes with the printer... can you put the link where to download the updates? I tried the ones on the hp.com site, but all I get is this weird bigben_.fmw file and I can't install it. Do you need some sort of special application to do it? Is there an alternaive driver and utility to this printer?
thank you very much

Apple delivers a drive built in the OS - you have to install nothing - should work out of the box with OS 10.5.5

My positng from 2006 was before OS 10.5 release

Just use the built in functionality and it should work.

If not send me an email and we can look together on your mac via iChat and Desktop sharing and I help you
