hp B 9180 printer

Postby Petrina Jane » Thu Jul 19, 2007 6:57 pm

Has anyone any experience of hp B9180?
I cannot find a way of getting it to accept a 'user defined' size of paper. I am using the speciality tray and although one can add a new paper profile and the name of a new paper it doesn't allow for a custom paper size in the pop-up box when using the automate printing route from photoshop.

I created a custom size paper and it was fine to use. But I don't use the automated photoshop route (the plug-in, yes?), but print "normally" through PS CS and the print dialog. Maybe you should try that?

Even if you're using a version of Photoshop where the plug-in does work (which really means CS or CS2 - I can't get it to work in CS3 and it's not recommended anyway), it's best avoided. There's various bugs in the plug-in that HP show no interest in fixing; indeed, the B9180 really could do with bug fixed drivers on every platform.

The answer is, as the previous reply noted, to print without the plug-in.

Thank you for your suggestions. I noticed a little later there had been a recent update on the hp site and guess what - it has at last been amended! Pity they could not see their way to notify those of us that must have caused them enough grief to put it right!
Another interesting thing in case anyone has this problem...i used A3+ paper set to bprderless NB dpn't use the borderless setting if you want to have a 2px line around the edge of your image especailly if the image is centrally placed and only 12 x 5 inches You will loose one of the long side lines. This only happens with A3+borderless! It is not a problem qith A3 borderless!
It took two of us on an hp stand at a trade show sometime to work that one out!
There is no official technical support available for the practical user of the 9180, unless you want instruction on the obvious because you haven't rread the manual ( for what it is! ). I am informed that this situation is being looked at, so maybe in the future this will change I certainly hope so, as it has taken 9 months for them to do a patch for the use of custom-sized paper in the speciality tray!
