You may be right but the first few mm of the glass are definitely required for film scanning with holders for colour set up, according to the manual.
I must admit that my mental image as I typed was of my old Umax scanner which does not do film but does have a separate glass strip before the platten area that is required for pre-scan calibration it seems.
Attempting to multi task this morning as the Wi-Fi connection to my Broadband service is playing up. And I must start my Xmas shopping .... !
