Are there any compatible cartridges for the Epson 1400? and is there a uk company who is supplying a continuous feed with reset chips for this printer?

Thanks for that. Another question is, if I was to use the single cartridge system and needed to change one cartridge, does the 1400 flush the other cartridges too as the 1800 does?

Yes - that's why the inks all go down too quickly. I think that Epson could easily produce software to recharge only one colour.

Have a look at Fotospeed CIS systems - www.thedarkroom.co.uk retail this and are very helpful.

Well, I've installed the fotospeed CIS and I'm very impressed! Took a while: not as quick as the suppliers suggested and there is an issue with the fitting.
But the end result - equivalent of 8 / 9 full sets of Epson cartridges! And refilling even cheaper.
Colours are excellent. Not only that but RK Photographic:

were generous with their time in advising on the fitting.
