Flashguns for Digital

I am thinking about buying a flashgun to use with Lumix FZ20, but since I already have two good flashguns from 35mm SLR could I not use a slave trigger & use that to fire additional gun? That way I would overcome the restriction on firing voltage of Digital cameras.

Wein makes a gadget "Safe Sync" that fits between camera and flash to protect the camera.
