iP4300 poor printing

Postby Guest » Mon Sep 17, 2007 3:39 pm

i believe the real problem with my iP4300 is me and my lack of skills. however whatever program i try to print from i get lacklustre prints at best [iPhoto] and real downright rubbish [PS2].

i just can't work out which settings are needed both in the PS2 print dialogue - should i let the printer handle colour or the program, should i turn color management off etc. down to which profile for which paper should i use?

my last printer was an epson 1290 and it just had basic settings like; glossy paper, really glossy paper, not so glossy and not glossy at all :) and it always provided great prints no matter what.

so any ideas what i am doing wrong? have used a mixture of epson, kodak, canon and fuji gloss and the same happens; over saturated inks almost looks as if put on with a palette knife, and poor detail and colour rendition.

i use an iMac and it is colour calibrated.

any help would be great as i am running out of hair and red wine :)

cheers
