Shouldn't be happening.

Likelihood is that you're double profiling - applying a profile in Photoshop, and again in the printer driver.

What print settings are you using in the iage editor and in the printer driver?

Second refill of ink and you've had printer for a couple of years?

When did this magenta cast problem start? Was it after a cartridge change? (any cartridge) Or after the printer had sat idle for a long time?

R1800 ink carts are very small, and they don't have much of a shelf life. Also, you stated 'ink refill', not cartridge replacement. You do replace your cartridges with Genuine Epson carts for R1800, correct?

Incidentally, welcome to photo-i.
Cheers,

You might need to have a custom profile made to use the JET-TEC inks - unless of course JET-TEC provide a suitable one on their site for your printer.

I'll assume that you did not flush your system/lines prior to switching to the JETTEC carts. This is a wild guess, but perhaps you have a mix of geniune Epson and JETTEC inks that is creating havoc. I'm hesitant to suggest this because a) it will use ink and b) It might not work, but perhaps a cleaning cycle or 2 (or more) with idea to flush out remaining genuine Epson ink?

That said, I have no experience with JETTEC or any other 3rd party inks other that what I have read, so please take the above with the proverbial grain of salt. There is a lot of information here regarding pros and cons of third party inks if you care to do a bit of searching. I think it would be fair to say that the prevailing opinion, at least here, is that use of 3rd party inks is not, generally, worth the dollars or pounds or yen or whatever saved. And that said, there will be those who will have had positive experiences and disagree with what I just said.

At any rate, no need to beat yourself up for giving it a go. Maybe the Jettec inkset will work just fine for you once you get this sorted out.
Cheers,

To be honest, I recommend stepping away from jet tec, or any 3rd party ink for that matter. Jet tec is not known for being reliable in its ink quality. Usually there are no 3rd party inks that come close to the quality of genuine Epson ink. 3rd party ink is also known to create havoc on printer heads, as it is also an electrical component. This is why Epson invalidates the warranty if using 3rd party ink.

As a side note, I don't print regularly with my R1800, but I have yet to experience a problem with the printer as a result of "aged ink".

Lets get back to the photoshop settings - are you letting photoshop manage colours and assigning a printer profile there? If so, use print with preview and then set the printer properties to No ICM/or ICM/No Colour mangement (or something like that) - otherwise you're applying the profile twice (or two different ones, where only one is needed).

How strong is the magenta cast?

Hi the cast is rather strong on the greys very noticeable on black and white prints.

Iam a little thick when it comes to setting so if you wish to help then a step by step guide would be nice, not sure what a profile even is tobe honest, there seems tobe profiles for monitors cameras printers e.t.c ...

thx jamie.

ps. iam using photoshop.
