Drawing a blank on a classic photograph

Postby USRoute12 » Tue Mar 16, 2010 8:46 am

Earlier tonight, I was telling a friend of mine about a classic photograph from the 1950s or 1960s. This is where a large group of female models are all standing in the windows of a brick building that is several stories high. They are all wearing different color dresses, and this adds so much color to the image. I have seen this photograph hundreds of times. However, for the life of me, I can't remember the photographer's name. I believe the photo was shot in New York City?

Does this photograph sound familiar to anyone?

Thank you!
Yours truly,

Ron

I don't think so. I looked up his work and did not find the photo I am referring to. I should mention that this is a tall brick building in New York City.

I also looked online but didn’t find it. I know the picture, and still have a vague feeling it was him … or could it be Cecil Beaton or David Bailey?

The one I'm thinking of is is also circa late '50s, looking up from ground level at a ruined building, or one in the process of demolition; British photographer.

I would love to see what this image looks like?

Thanks for the link Vincent, I've not seen artnet.com before. It was quite interesting going through the site and even more interesting to see lots of Giclee prints on there too.

Thought I would say quite a few of the prints in my opinion are very expensive considering their aesthetic appearance, but that's art for you I guess!
