ABOUT
SCOLIOSIS
Scoliosis is alateral curvature of the spine that
develops in childhood, and which can mean years of treatment and major
surgery to correct. About 3 per 1000 children may develop some degree
of scoliosis.
If left untreated the curvature can become very
severe and seriously affect a child's appearance and health. It is vital
that scoliosis is diagnosed and treated early, and for this to happen
people need to know about it and how to detect it in a growing child.
