Chris Simpson has spent the last 30 years as a commercial photographer, the first 20 in fashion and the next 10 as a location advertising photographer, winning many prestigious awards en-route. Over recent years, Chris has moved away from the advertising world to focus solely as an artist. This exhibition is a collection of his fine art photographs. I had the pleasure of previewing this exhibition. The pictures are meticulously displayed with plenty of breathing space around each picture. Chris has captured more than just simple pictures. Rather than snap what is in front of him, he has thoughtfully explored the situation and waited for the right moment. This approach has resulted in timeless photographs that will be appreciated for years to come. The quality is outstanding, you can almost feel the cool sea breeze and smell the desert dust. There are a couple of Silver Chemistry prints, but the bulk of the exhibition has been produced on his Epson Stylus Pro 9600 printer, using the new Epson Somerset Velvia media. All the pictures are for sale. If you want to know more about Chris and what makes him tick, keep an eye out for my interview with him. All photographs © Chris Simpson 2002 |
