August – The
EPSON Perfection 1670 and 1670 Photo, announced today, have been designed
to offer professional photo manipulation technology
to the home or small office user without breaking the bank. EPSON has
incorporated a range of innovative new technologies into both devices
including a CCD sensor, which scans images at a class leading 1600dpi.
The scanners also boast a fast USB 2.0 high-speed connection and a brighter
internal lamp, to produce film scans up to 4 times faster than previous
models. For the photo editing enthusiast, the Perfection 1670 Photo also
includes an integrated 35mm Transparency Unit (TPU) which allows users
to scan positive and negative film strips as well as standard photographs.
The
Perfection 1670 and 1670 Photo have several new features not least
of which is
EPSON's new driver software, EPSON Scan. This works as both
driver software that sends image data to TWAIN compliant applications
such as Adobe® Photoshop, and as a stand-alone application that saves
images from data to file.
EPSON
Scan features powerful image editing tools including colour restoration
of faded
or discoloured photographs. The new software caters for all
level of user from the beginner to the professional by offering different
modes, which adjusts the amount of options available to the user when
editing and restoring images. Another feature of the software in the
Perfection 1670 Photo is the dust removal technology. The scanner can
detect ‘dust noise’ during scanning and the EPSON Scan software
removes the noise by replacing it with neighbouring pixels producing
outstanding results.
“Users are now demanding very high specifications on their scanning
equipment – even those for their home,” says Richard Baylis
EPSON’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Consumer Products. “And
that is why EPSON continues to update its scanner range to include the
very latest hardware innovations and software.
EPSON
has included a wide range of software with the devices. This includes
BizCard 4.0
allowing users to scan multiple business cards, which will
then be converted into contacts on their computer. And ArcSoft PhotoImpression™ and
NewSoft Presto! give the user all the tools they need for creative image
scanning and editing.
The
Perfection 1670 and 1670 Photo’s wide range of features and
smart technology are complemented with a new compact design making it
