Print Head alignment

The printer performs an Automatic Print Head alignment as part of the installation, the instructions for media size is contained in the Quick Start Guide - this information should have been included in the on screen instructions. By default the printer does an automatic Head alignment, however, you also have an option to do this manually. I did this both ways, although I never managed to get it quite right with the manual setup. I gave up after running the routine four times and will stick with the automatic option. The Auto Head alignment took 3 minutes 7 seconds

One item that did cause me some concern was the Auto Head Alignment. The bottom of the page produced broken lines. I have looked this up in the on-line manual and there is no reference to these broken lines, yet the Setup Guide has an illustration indicating that this is OK. I also ran the Manual Head alignment this involves looking at a series of swatches and selecting the patch that has the least amount of white lines. Then entering the numeric value in a chart, On the above example the Magenta 0 is OK. For most of the other patches a value of -1 was entered. Once all the values had been entered a second print was created and you have to verify the patches again. Another print is created and you have to repeat the process again. Three prints were needed for a manual head alignment. Each page took 3 minutes 7 seconds to print.

For the purpose of this review I will let the printer perform an Automatic Head alignment, this just involves putting in two sheets of A4 media and the printer reads the swatches. The automatic alignment took 6 minutes 17 seconds and produced a different set of swatches to the ones generated during the Setup. You can swap between Auto and Manual alignment via the Printer Properties > Maintenance tab and select Custom settings. Once selected it send the information to the printer.
