EPSON V700 Photo Scanner

Page 3

Setting up.

For this section I am going to follow the quick start guide to the letter and see what happens. Connect the scanner to the power supply, but do not connect the USB cable just yet. I have to shut down all applications to do the install - back soon.

OK, the software installation took 7 minutes 45 seconds and required a re-boot. I have opted for the Easy Install option, this means I have installed all the applications and utilities. SilverFast 6 SE and Photoshop Elements 3 are on separate CD's, I will install SilverFast at a later stage and will not install Photoshop Elements 3 for this review, it is a superb application but most advanced users and professionals will be using Photoshop CS or other high end application. You are prompted to register your product at the end, unfortunately the Epson V700 & V750 are not on the list of scanners (YET). After the re-boot connect the USB 2 cable and turn on the scanner. we are ready to go.

Select Easy or custom install
The Easy option still allows you some choice
The custom install gives you total choice
Re-Start your computer to complete the installation

The installed applications include:

      • Scanner Driver (EPSON Scan)
      • User Guide
      • Epson EasyPrint
      • ICC Profiles (Adobe)
      • Abbey FineReader 6.0 Sprint Plus
      • Epson Copy Utility
      • Epson Creative Suite
      • Epson OnLine registration

I will look at the applications in more detail later in the review.
