Installing the drivers and software.
As with most other hardware the installation process is fully automatic, simply insert the CD and a Wizard takes care of the rest. The installation process took less than five minutes.

Besides installing the printer drivers the installation CD also installed three other applications; HP Photo & Imaging Gallery - a visual guide to disk content and picture editor etc,. HP Director - a quick launch application for HP Photo & Imaging Gallery and for uploading images from the memory card reader. HP Memories disk creator - an application that creates a slide show with music that can be played on a home DVD player. The player must be able to read CD-R/W discs. I will look at these applications in greater detail later in the review. Although the applications seem well put together and will no doubt prove to be useful for many people, I would have liked the option to not install them.

This is a good software selection that is well thought out and will satisfy many users. I like hardware that is ready to use straight from the box (I haven't forgotten about the missing USB cable).
