On this page I generally compare the first prints from the review printer to those produced by similar models from other manufacturers. However, as this is a pre-production unit I am going to make a few allowances, and I am only going to compare this printer to its big brother the B9180. so lets get on with it.
The first print was produced on HP Advanced Photo Paper Glossy and I have just selected the default settings, i.e. the printer has just got on with the job. The full A4 page took 2 minutes 45 seconds to produce whereas the same image using the same settings on the B9180 took 3 minutes 15 seconds.

The above prints were made from the same file in the same session using the same settings and media. Looking at the prints side by side , the B8850 has a warmer feel to it, Sophie's skin tone is excellent, in fact I would even go as far as to say it is the most pleasing skin tone I have ever seen from any printer. The B9180 by direct comparison is also excellent although displaying a fraction less less colour, it is probably more accurate but from an esthetic point of view the B8850 would please my mother in law more.
Please bear in mind that the print samples I am showing you here are scans of actual prints, and whilst every effort has been made to ensure accuray, the screen display will not be 100% accurate and may also vary depending on how your monitor is set up. However, the results will be relative.
All scans were produced using the Epson V750 scanner with SliverFast Ai. The scanner was calibrated with the LaserSoft iT8 target.
