Epson
Print CD
This
is a layout application for printing on to CDs. The application has plenty
of features for creating basic CDs but for more professional looking layouts
you should use a more advanced DTP application. One annoying element was
the chopping off of the character descenders - if you were trying to do
a professional layout, this would let you down.

The
Gray Balancer software
This
application alone has to be worth the full asking price of the printer
- it is a sophisticated item of software. I have covered this in depth
on page 5 of the review, so I won't repeat myself, only to say that I
have not as yet discovered the full potential of the software, that would
take weeks of experimentation. I am sure that most users will quickly
discover how easy it is to achieve stunning prints - monochrome or colour.
More
or less ink
Here
is the new slider with both Colour Density and Drying time per Print Page.
This panel can be found at the bottom of the Custom
> Advanced menu page. Details on its use are scarce, that's
why I haven't referred to it before. The top slider controls the amount
of ink that is laid down (-50% to +20%). The drying time per print page
slider can be set from 0 to 20 sec. I am not sure what this means, I can
only guess and think it means the delay between printing the next page.
The
above shot of Poole, Dorset, shows how the 2100 can handle heavy black
areas and still keep the detail, whilst none of the wispy clouds have
lost their detail. The above picture is a scan of the original print and
has lost some of the subtlety in the scanning process.
