CD/DVD printing
Epson first introduced the CD printing option on the SP2100 in 2002 . I am not sure if this will be included on the North American version, it wasn't on the 2200. For some reason Epson dropped this on the R2400, yet it was included on the R1800 and now R1900. I am glad to see that this is now a feature on the R2880, I used it a lot on the 2100.
Unfortunately the Easy Print CD software has not had a much needed face lift, but nevertheless it is still a useful application that will get the job done.
The CD/DVD input tray is located behind the front panel, just pull this down and the print head is raised to the upper level and then place your CD/DVD tray in the slots, align the arrows and activate the print button in the software. A disc takes about 1 minute 34 seconds to complete and providing you have used a quality printable disc you will have a professional looking disc.
The first thing is to ensure you have the right printable disc, even though the UltraChrome ink doesn't penetrate media (it sits on the surface) printing on a non coated disc will not work - the ink won't dry. I have included a sample of a non coated disc, this has been drying for two days and is still wet. The second DVD was printed using a Sony inkjet printable disc and the colours are more than acceptable - I wonder if you can create a profile for DVDs?

Epson Print CD - not the best but it gets the job done |
In Easy Print CD there are a number of options to add fancy text, a few items of clip art and a selection of royalty free background images. You can of course use your own images, just browse to your images folder and make your selection. Although the software is basic, there are a number of useful features such as aligning the CD/DVD, but the default setting produced perfectly aligned prints (discs)
