This is the page that I always look forward to doing. The anticipation of seeing what a new printer will produce is like watching prints magically appearing bit by bit in the developing tray (old fashioned darkroom printing). Epson has added a new ink to the UltraChrome K3 set, it's called Vivid Magenta and claim "Expands colour gamut - especially blues and magenta
E.g.: deep sea blue, Pepsi blue, and Barbie pink etc." OK, lets put it to the test and see if it is just hype or a big leap forward.

The First print |
In all my years of testing printers and printing out my photo-i reference file I have never produced a more accurate version of this file. The colours are stunning and vibrant. The profile is not 100% accurate, the print is slightly darker than the original file, but this could easily be corrected via a Levels or Curves adjustment. The reds and yellows are excellent, the blue is electric, perhaps a bit too much, but it will look great on a land or seascape picture.
