Adobe Photoshop Elements 6

Page 3

At the top of the palette bin are three colourful buttons; EDIT, CREATE and SHARE. The Edit mode is where you will do all your manipulation work. The Create mode gives you several choices, create a Photo Book, Photo Collage, Online Gallery and Slide Show.  The Photo book option provides several templates so you can create a custom layout of your pictures and then print a book . The bad news is that Elements 6 crashed several times whilst trying to create a book.

That annoying message box - does annyone at Microsoft actually read the error reports?

The Online Gallery

The Online Gallery will compile a selection of photographs and produce an impressive looking Flash based web page. I have used this feature in Elements 5 it is outstanding, version 6 includes more themes. I especially like the Birthday theme whereby you can define the amount of candles and age of child. Pity Adobe couldn’t have gone the extra inch and included some music, dare I suggest Happy Birthday.

Creating great looking Flash pages is as easy as eating cake

Lastly, you can create slide shows together with animated pan and zoom effects. Adobe has included some garish looking clip art, which can be added to images. This may appeal to children, but I doubt it will much use, if any, to anyone who is passionate about their images. The slide show can be saved as a self running file, for sharing or on DVD which can be played on a TV set.

The Share option is for sharing pictures via email, CD/DVD, web.
